Summer at Emory...

After my thrid year at Emory & Henry College I decided to spend the summer on campus for the first time. I had always wanted to stay here over summer break, whether it was for football after my Freshman year, or to take classes after my Sophmore year to get a little ahead. This summer, since I did not have a job for me in Knoxville, I decided to seek a job on campus and take summer school classes.

Summer in Emory is a different world. The trees are in full bloom, the leaves are at the fullest of green, and campus is void of the normal everyday hustle and bustle of students.

All summer workers and summer school students are living in the Village for the summer. This is new to me, only having lived in a place like Hillman Hall the other three years I've been here. Living in a house is fun and new, I have to make all my meals in the little kitchen I share with 15 other men.

So far this summer has allowed me to do several things that I would absolutely not have been able to do at home. I have been able to grow even closer to one of my best friends, make a couple new friends from people I used to want to have nothing to do with, and even rekindle some friendships I thought gone forever.

So far, these few weeks of being at Emory & Henry over the summer have been some fun times. I know that the rest of this summer is not going to disappoint, and that's something that I am excited about.

Intelligent Moments can come in the middle of some of the hardest decisions...
